One of my favorite movies is Walk the Line. I love Johnny Cash, especially when his voice goes so low you can barely here it. So when my boyfriend got me tickets to see the Million Dollar Quartet at Playhouse Square, I was more than excited.
The night started off badly, mostly because my hair would not do a cool June Carter poof, but I went in smiling anyway. I was immediately blown away by how realistic these guys sounded. If you brought Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Elvis Presley and Jerry Lee Lewis back from the dead, it would have been hard to tell which one was the actor and which was the real thing. (Okay, so maybe the smell of rotting hell would give it away)
Not only was all the music live, but Elvis did some awesome dancing, and Jerry Lee played the piano in at least 5 different positions! I am aware that these are not the actors real names, but I'm going to pretend they are. It makes it more realistic.
I will mention one name.
Why hello tall dark and handsome! This is Derek Keeling. He makes an amazing Johnny Cash and don't worry I sent him a facebook message saying so. He might even be better looking.
The show was great, it did have drama and a good history to it, and for the last half I was standing up and dancing, which my boyfriend really appreciated since he was seated nicely and my butt was shaking in his face the whole time.
Go see this. Or at least see Walk the Line. Or listen to the soundtrack. Anything really having to do with Cash is of great value.
